Dominated by horizontal lines and accentuated by the equally horizontal raked brick joints, dramatic overhangs, and big glass windows, this building is one of the last and more mature works in Wright’s “Prairie House” series.

This Wright design was one of the only large buildings to survive a 1923 earthquake because of its revolutionary cantilever construction.

Wright brought a waterfall into the design of a client’s weekend house with this construction.

The building, designed by Wright in 1959, represents a radical departure from traditional museum design, spiraling upward and outward in smoothly sculptured coils of massive unadorned white concrete. 

Built on a minimal budget, this building in Oak Park, Illinois, is home to an intimate, top-lit cube of space, which is turned inward, away from city noises.
